Description

Large, rhizomatous, sedge to 1 m tall. Culms triangular. Leaves glossy with purple-black bases. Inflorescence terminal with 5-11 greenish-white spikes.

Habitat

Disturbed inundated soils, low flatwoods, wet prairie

Comments

Vouchered in panhandle and St. Lucie Co., established in panhandle. An aggressive seed producer, also spreads vegetatively. Rapidly spreading from disturbed to natural areas in Texas.
