Description

Large, perennial, rhizomatous, sedge. Culms triangular and glabrous to 3.5 m tall. Leaves broad to 1.5 m tall, margins serrated and sharp. Inflorescence branched with densely clustered spikes (golden brown) surrounded by broad bracts up to 2 m long. Flowers in summer. Achenes dark brown, sessile, biconvex with 2 stigmas.
