  • Wettest city in Florida: Wewahitchka, with an average annual rainfall of 69 inches
  • Record one-day rainfall in the Apalachicola region: Wewahitchka, which got 10.4 inches on one day in 1965 (one inch shy of the state record, which was set in Milton in 1975)
  • Florida weather station recording the most rain in any 12-month period: Wewahitchka wins again, with 112 inches in 1965-66
  • State with the most thunderstorms: Florida (along the coast, thunderstorms occur nearly 70 days per year)
  • Highest temperature ever recorded in Florida: 109 degrees F (Monticello, June 29, 1931, 207 feet above mean sea level)
  • Highest temperature ever recorded in the U.S.: 134 degrees F (Greenland Ranch, California, Jul. 10, 1913; elevation 178 feet below mean sea level)
  • Lowest temperature ever recorded in Florida through 2000: -2 degrees F (Tallahassee, February 2, 1899, elevation 193 feet above mean sea level)
  • Lowest temperature ever recorded in the United States through 2000: -80 degrees F (Prospect Creek Camp, Alaska, January 23, 1971, elevation 1,100 feet above mean sea level)
