Butterfly Name

Cofaqui Giant-Skipper (Megathymus cofaqui)

Range: Florida Panhandle and much of the peninsula through the level of Charlotte and Brevard counties
Seasonal Occurrence: March to October, varies with latitude

Habitat: any open area with yuccas, but especially sandhills and dry hammocks
Host Plants: yucca (Yucca filamentosa)

This species is endemic to the southeastern U.S. It is crepuscular and most easily found late in the afternoon on its display grounds.
